Panormitis (SYMI) - RHODOS
Weather : Sunny ca.21°C
Wind : NNE 3 Bf, decreasing to 1 Bf in the afternoon
After a night at anchor & a morning-swim (for some of the crew),
we hauled anchor at 9.50h.
The first half of the trip we had a very nice sail, with a beam reach.
The last part of the trip the engine had to help us out,
because the wind died down.
At ca.14.40h we arrived in the Mandraki-harbour of Rhodos.
The staff of Istion (Thomas) did a prompt and quick check-out,
so at 15.45h our boat was cleared for check-out (everything was OK).
We filled up the Diesel-tank : 46 Liter / ca.72 Euro.
Afterwards we visited the impressive old town of Rhodos, a must !
Taverna-tip : Nireas (Odos Sofokleous - Rhodos Old Town),
it's a nice fish-restaurant, in the backstreets of the old town.
(ca.120 Euro / 6 pers).
Summary :
Sailing in Rhodos the first week of november is recomended,
the climate is mild (day 20°C/night 17°C) and the wind can be unpredictable,
but was very reliable blowing from the N this week.
Almost every harbour is nearly empty, so no worries to get space in the harbours.
In every harbour some taverna's were still opened, as were the supermakets and bakeries.
A small disadvantage is that the days are a lot shorter than in summermonths.
