Kalymnos - Kos 31-05-2009

Weather : Sunny Hot 29C

Left Vathi on Kalymnos at 10.15h. We had a nice backwindsail to Kos, to finish our holiday.
At 13.15h we arrived in the Kos-Marina, first we filled up diesel (137 ltrs) and than moored in the Marina.
Afterwards we visited Kos-town and his castle.
Tommorow-morning we fly back home ;-(

Leros - Kalymnos 30-05-2009

Wind : variable 1-3 Bf NWW
Weather : Sunny 27C

Today first we had to motor, than had a nice sail, to finish the last hour under motor again.
At 13.30h we arrived in Vathi on Kalymnos. It's one of most beautifull small harbours in Greece. With ca.8 yachts the harbour is full, most of them are owneryachts.
Tommorow our last sailingday to Kos ...

Marathi - Leros 29-05-2009

Weather : sunny hot 28C

Today it's very hot, unfortunately no wind.
We motored our way down to Leros. At 13.45h we anchored in the bay of Pandeli for a swim and lunch.
At 17.00h we tried to moor in the harbour of Pandeli, but it's forbidden for yachts, only fisherboats are allowed.
So we anchored outside with a line to the rocks.
To view here is fantastic, with an castle on top of a mountain in a decor of whitewashed Greek houses.

Patmos - Marathi 28-05-2009

Weather : Sunny 25C

Today we rented some scooters (10 Euros/scooter) and explored Patmos.
Went to the famous Monastery etc...
Patmos is a very nice and calm island.
At 17.45h we hauled anchor and set sails for Marathi.
It was a very nice halfwindsail wit average speed of 8 knots. At 19.30h we arrived in the bay at Marathi. We had diner in the Pirate-taverna, nice atmosphere.

Amorgos - Patmos 27-05-2009

We started very early at 06.00h.
It was a very long & tough journey, we had to fight our way against wind & waves.
2 times we had a brief visit from dolphins.
At 15.00h we arrived in Patmos, it was very windy in the harbour.
Had a nice diner in a local fishtaverna, with lot of freshly caught seacreatures on the menu.
Tommorow gonna rent some scooters to explore the island.

Amorgos 26-05-2009

Today we stayed on Amorgos, rented some scooters to explore the island (price 12 Euro/scooter).
Amorgos is a beautifull island.
First visited the Monastery, it's an unbelievable masterpiece of construction.
Afterwards went to Aegali and Chora, nice Cycladic villages.

Paros - Amorgos 25-05-2009

Weather : sunny 24C

Today we had our longest trip, 52 N.Miles.
Because the wind was variable the motor had to accompany during this trip.
At 1600h we arrived in Katapola on Amorgos.
There are a lot of yachts on the quay, most of them owneryachts.
Tommorow we're gonna explore the island on a scooter.

Sifnos - Paros 24-05

Weather : sunny hot 26C

Today it was hot, unfortunately there was little wind, so the motor had to help us.
Underway we took a swim and we also saw a school of dolphins.
At 1400h we arrived in the bay of Naoussa on Paros.
First we anchored and took a swim in Ormos Ioannou.
At 1700h we moored in the marina of Naoussa, which is still under construction.
The village is a beautifull Cycladic Harbour, nice atmosphere.
Tommorow we will set course to Amorgos.

Kythnos - Syros 23-05

Weather : sunny 25C

Today nearly no wind, so we had to motor the trip to Syros. Halfway we had the company of a dolphin, magical !
At 12.00h we arrived in Finikas on Syros. Argolis arranged for the genua to be repaired, at 17.00h everything was up and running again, nice job from the company !
For the rest it was a lazy day with swimming and relaxing ;-)

KYTHNOS Loutra 22-05

Today we stayed in Kythnos because the wind and the waves were to rough.
A German yacht who left was towed back in a few hours later, with rudderproblems, by a fisherman. So the crew was happy we stayed in Loutra today.
Tommorow our destination is Syros, Argolis is gonna repair our genua over there.
This evening we're enjoy the nice Greek food again in a local taverna ;-)

Lavrion - Kythnos 21-05-09

Weather: Sunny 21C

Today the sea was rough, waves of 4m and a lot of wind.
We had a few seasick persons on board, a shame.
At 14.00h we arrived in Loutra on Kythnos. At the end of the trip we had some trouble with the genua, Argolis will solve it in the next days.
The harbour of Loutra is full with yachts, because it has a well cheltered quay.

Lavrion 20-05-09

Weather: Sunny, but much wind.

Arrived at 12.30h in Lavrion.
After the check-in, we installed us on Pinelope, a Bavaria 44.
Because of the strong winds, we decided to stay in Lavrion for this night.
Later we gonna have dinner in a local taverna.
It's low season, so there aren't many tourists around.
Tomorrow we are going to set sail, our destination is one of the Cyclades.

11-05-2008 AEGINA – MARINA KALAMAKI ATHENS

Weather : Cloudy, few raindrops / Afternoon Sun & clouds 23 °C

This morning it rained a little bit in Aegina & it was cloudy.
We started at 09.30, it was a nice sailingtrip, the wind came from North, so we had nice halfwind reach with speeds from 7 till 8 knots.

Reached the Kalamaki marina at 12.30.

In the afternoon we took the tram, from the Marina (Edem-station) directly into the centre of Athens (ticket : 1,70 Euro oneway p.p.).
We visited the obligatory Acropolis, Agora,… the entrance was free on Sunday 11-05 !

At night we had a super Greek dinner at Vassilis-taverna, not far from the Marina.

It was a nice ending of our sailingtrip through Hellas.

10-05-2008 ANGISTRI - AEGINA

Short trip on motor to Aegina-town. It's a bussy town on weekends.
Took the bus to the temple of Aphaia, visit is a must.
In the meantime our yacht is surrounded by megayachts from Athenians on weekend.

09-05-2008 P. EPIDAVROS - ANGISTRI

In the morning we visited the ancient theatre of Epidavros, impressive.
Today we had a lazy day. Sailed to Angistri, anchored in a bay & took a nice swim in the sea.
For the evening we moored in the harbour of Milos on Angistri, they builded a new quay, excellent shelter.
We enjoyed a wonderfull sunset from aboard our yacht.

08-05-2008 GALAXIDI - P. EPIDAVROS

Weather : Sunny 23C

Today a long trip, but our most beautifull.
This morning we've seen 3 schools of dolphins, a few of them swam along with our boat, magical !
Afterwards the journey through the Corinth-canal, spectacular but not cheap (170 Euro).
The last part we had a nice quick sail towards Palea Epidavros, a nice village on the Peloponnese.

Today no sailing, we visited the archeological site of Delphi. It's a must!
Unfortunally it was cloudy & it rained a little. Maybe tomorrow more luck with the weather ?

06-05-2008 TRIZONIA - GALAXIDI

Almost no wind, just a little bit of sailing, otherwise on motor.
They are building a new quay in Galaxidi, it's half finished, there's only space for a few yachts.
Galaxidi is a beautifull town.

05-05-2008 ITHAKA - TRIZONIA

Weather : Sunny 22C

Our longest trip, ca.80 NM.
Nearly no wind, or on the nose, so we had to motor.
The passage under the bridge in Rion was impressive!
In the small harbour of Nafpaktos was no place, so we went to Trizonia, a small island in the Corinthian Gulf.
A nice traditional place where only yachties come.
