with LIVE reports & pictures from the Blue Cup-Regatta in Greece.

Today is our last sailingday.
First we anchored in a bay on Skorpios, Onassis'private island, for a swim.
In the afternoon we sailed through the Lefkas-canal, the floating bridge opens every hour on the hour.
Afterwards we had a nice sail towards Preveza, an ideal ending of our sailingtrip.
At 1730 we moored in the Cleopatra-Marina in Aktio.
At night we had a delicious Greek diner at Panos'taverna in Aktio.
Yassas from Hellas,
Fabienne, Eddy, Diane, Koerel, Sandy, Freddy & Skipp Koen.
Today we went to Nidri on Lefkas, there was no wind and no sun, but it was hot.
Nidri is an unatractive touristtown. Here we did a nice walk (4km) to the waterfalls in Rachi, impressive !
Afterwards we left Nidri again, and went back to Meganissi.
We now are moored on the new Karnagio-quay in Vathi on Meganissi.

Asteria's crew
Today we sailed from Kalamos to Meganissi, there wasn't much wind, so part of the trip we did under motor.
Btw it's getting hotter everyday, summer is here !
We anchored in beautifull Port Atheni-bay, on Meganissi. We had an afternoon of swimming and diving of the boat.
In the evening we walked to the taverna at back of the bay, nice Greek-food.

Koen & co
Because there were no mopeds for rent in Frikes we decided to move on.
We started with a nice sharp reach on sail, but after an hour the wind died down so we had to go on under motor.
About halfway a school of dolphins joined us for a few minutes, magical !
First we anchored in the bay of Port Leone, a deserted village, on Kalamos. The water was ideal for a swim.
At 1700 we sailed on the town of Kalamos, were George greeted us at the townquay. In the evening we had a nice meal in Georges'Taverna.
Yassas,
Koen & crew
At noon we left Sivota, after filling up our watertanks.
After a short sail towards Ithaka we first tried to moor in Kioni, but the harbour was full, there was a flottila which occupied the quay (at 1400).
So we sailed on to Frikes, a few miles to the North.
There was space enough on the new quay, so we anchored stern to.
The wash of the ferries is not so much of a problem anymore in this harbour.
Grtz from Ithaka,
Asterias'crew
At night we had a long trip under motor, there was no wind. At 700 we anhored in a bay south of Fiscardo in Kefalonia. Most of us had a short sleep untill 1100.
When we entered the harbour of Fiscardo at 1300 there was no space left, the new pontoon was out of use. So we decided to sail to Lefkas.
We had a nice afternoon of sailing in the sun, halfway there a big seaturtle swam aside our yacht.
At 1600 we moored on the quay in Sivota, a small fishingvillage in Lefkas. Sivota is meetingplace for yachties and home to a few chartercompanies.
Btw we managed to repair a defect in our watersystem.
Grtz from Sivota,
Koen and the gang
Today we made the small trip over to Anti Paxos, only 4 miles.
We anchored in "Emerald bay", also known as the Greek Caribean !
This is one of the most beautifull bays in Greece, we had a day of relaxing and swimming.
This night we will start the long trip to Kefalonia.
Yassas,
Asterias'crew
After a pleasant night of Ouzo & Mythos, some of us took a refreshing swim in the sea this morning.
Today we had short trip from Lakka to Gaios on Paxos. Because there was no wind we had to motor the entire trip.
At 1300 we arrived in Gaios, this is one of the most charming harbours in Ionian. But it's popular, so in the evening the harbour is loaded with yachts.
We explored the island on foot in the afternoon, it was an 5 hours during adventurious walk !
Kalinichta from Paxos,
Koen & the crew
Today we checked in the boat at the new marina Cleopatra in Aktio, near Preveza. It's a nice and quiet marina with new facilities.
At 1100 we started our trip. For most of the time we had a nice sail with a sharp reach. At 1900 we dropped anchor in the bay of Lakka on Paxos. Altough it's not high season yet, there are already many yachts anchored here.
At night we had a nice greek diner in a local taverna.
Grtz from Paxos,
Asterias' crew
It was a nice last sailingday, we had sharp reach in the Athens-direction. In about 3 hrs we reached the Kalamaki Marina.
The Vernicos-people made a quick checkout of the boat, everything was ok.
Tommorowmorning we'll be flying home... So that was it for the Blue Cup 2009 ... A nice experience.
Grtz,
Koen and the crew
First day of free sailing, btw we ended 16th in our class.
We had a nice broad reach to Moni, an island were we anchored for an afternoon swim etc.
For the evening we moored in the harbour of Aegina.
Tommorow is our last sailing day ...
Grtz from Greece,
Kaldera's crew
Today there was no wind, so the race was suspended.
Instead the crews did a dinghyrace at Mandraki in Hydra, it was a lot of fun.
During our journey we also held a waterballoonfight between the yachts, fun fun fun...
Now we're in Poros, tonight we have a closingparty with a priceceremony.
Grtz,
Koen & Kaldera crew
Finally it was sunny and warm !
With did 2 triangurlar races between Dhokos & Ermioni today, it was nice matchracing.
Unfortunately our boat is rather a charterboat then a racer, so it's not possible to compeet for the prices for us :-(
Today we arrived 16th in our class.
Btw the sea is still pretty warm, so swimming is no problem.
Grtz,
Skipp
It was very windy today, we had a sharp reach with winds to 8 Bf, along with some heavy rainshowers, it was working day.
We ended 14th in our class.
At night we had a Vernicos-diner with a small party with
all the crews ...
Grtz,
Koen & crew
First racing day, unfortunately nearly no wind. The start with 45 yachts was spectaclurar.
It was rather a day of floating around than sailing.
At 1700h at least half of the fleet didn't get to the finish in time. So no points for today.
We had to motor to Poros in the dark, under a full moon.
Hopefully we have better wind tommorow.
