Hydra - Alimos Marina Kalamaki Athens

Weather : Sunny ca.25°C.
Wind : N 0-1 Bf.

Again, nearly no wind.

So we motored our way to Athens.

In Kalamaki the Vernicos-staff did a quick check-out,
everything was OK.

Still the weather here is summerly & thirsty ...


So, this ends a sunny Blue Cup with no wind,

Fri. 5 November - Porto Cheli - Hydra

Porto Cheli - Hydra

Weather : Sunny ca.25°C.
Wind : N 0-1 Bf.

No wind today,
so we motored along the Greek-coast.

We saw a seaturtle swimming past our boat,
and for 2 times in the past week we spotted some dolphins.

In the afternoon we anchored in a wonderful bay on Dhokos,
for swimming, snorkeling & relaxing in the sun...

For the night we went to Hydra,
one of the most beautifull harbours in Greece.

Today it was so hot, it felt like summer,
we even had dinner outside this evening.

Thur.4 November - Ermioni - Porto Cheli

Ermioni - Porto Cheli

Weather : Sunny ca.24°C.
Wind : SE 1 Bf.

Very light winds, but the officials decided to do a shortened race.
You couldn’t call it sailing it was more floating around,
so after 4 ours we floated over the finish.

So we ended this Blue Cup 10th in our class.

This Blue Cup had ideal sunny & summerly weather,
but unfortunately NO wind ... and that’s the ingredient you need for a regatta.

At night we had theVernicos-party at the Cosmos Hotel.

Now we have 2 days of free sailing to get back to Athens...
with this weather it’s gonna be swimming & sailing I think.

Wed.3 November - Poros - Ermioni

Poros - Soupia - Ermioni

Weather : Sunny with clouds ca.21°C.
Wind : SSE 1-2 Bf.

Again light winds, but we tried to do a race.

Halfway our position was good, we were in the firs half of the field,
but after 4 hours of sailing the raceofficials, cancelled the race.

So again nobody ended today.

In the afternoon we took a swim in the bay of N.Soupia,
there also was a fun-rowboat-race in the bay.

At night Vernicos arranged dinner at the Gianosis Taverna.

Tommorow it’s the last day of racing, let’s pray for some wind !

Tue.2 November - Methana - Poros

Methana - Poros

Weather : Sunny with clouds ca.21°C.
Wind : NE 1-2 Bf.

Unfortunately another day with light winds.

It was a race with slow-sailing today.

We ended 9th in our class, not good/not bad.

At night we had a tastefull dinner at Taverna Karavolos.

Tommorow there isn’t much wind to be expected, let’s hope this forecast is wrong.

Mon.1 November - Palea Epidavros - Methana

Palea Epidavros - Methana

Weather : Sunny with a few clouds ca.21°C.
Wind : N 1 Bf.

Today was our first race, but we were unlucky with the wind.
No yacht managed to pass the finishline within the timelimit, ther was simply not enough wind.

The Last two hours of the day we had to motor in the dark to reach the harbour of Methana.

At night we had a nice dinner at Taverna Babis.

Sun. 31th october - Kalamaki - P.Epidavros

Kalamaki - Palea Epidavros

Weather : Sunny ca.20°C.
Wind : N 1 Bf.

Today our first sailingtrip to P.Epidavros, unfortunately there was no wind, so we had to motor the whole way.
Lucky the weather was sunny.

In the afternoon the whole fleet arrived in P.Epidavros, now the small fishingharbour is packed with yachts.

This evening we have the welcome-dinner/party at Verdelis.

Hopefully we have some wind tommorow for our first race.

Sat. 30 October 2010 - Athens Marina Alimos

Kalimera,

After a long journey we arrived in the Alimos Marina in Kalamaki (Athens).
The weather here is sunny and ca.20°C ;-))

After checking in the yacht, we're later gonna have a nice Greek dinner at Vassilis.

Tommorow the Blue Cup really begins,

31-05-2010 Meganissi - Preveza

Wind : 1-3 Bf WNW
Weather : sunny, few clouds 26C

Today is our last sailingday.
First we anchored in a bay on Skorpios, Onassis'private island, for a swim.
In the afternoon we sailed through the Lefkas-canal, the floating bridge opens every hour on the hour.
Afterwards we had a nice sail towards Preveza, an ideal ending of our sailingtrip.
At 1730 we moored in the Cleopatra-Marina in Aktio.
At night we had a delicious Greek diner at Panos'taverna in Aktio.

30-05-2010 Meganissi - Lefkas

Wind : variable 0-1 Bf
Weather : cloudy, hot 27C

Today we went to Nidri on Lefkas, there was no wind and no sun, but it was hot.
Nidri is an unatractive touristtown. Here we did a nice walk (4km) to the waterfalls in Rachi, impressive !
Afterwards we left Nidri again, and went back to Meganissi.
We now are moored on the new Karnagio-quay in Vathi on Meganissi.

29-05-2010 Kalamos - Meganissi

Wind : 1-2 Bf W
Weather : sunny with a few clouds 27C

Today we sailed from Kalamos to Meganissi, there wasn't much wind, so part of the trip we did under motor.
Btw it's getting hotter everyday, summer is here !
We anchored in beautifull Port Atheni-bay, on Meganissi. We had an afternoon of swimming and diving of the boat.
In the evening we walked to the taverna at back of the bay, nice Greek-food.

28-05-2010 Ithaka - Kalamos

Wind : 2 Bf SE, decreasing to no wind in the afternoon.
Weather : Morning cloudy / afternoon sunny 27C

Because there were no mopeds for rent in Frikes we decided to move on.
We started with a nice sharp reach on sail, but after an hour the wind died down so we had to go on under motor.
About halfway a school of dolphins joined us for a few minutes, magical !
First we anchored in the bay of Port Leone, a deserted village, on Kalamos. The water was ideal for a swim.
At 1700 we sailed on the town of Kalamos, were George greeted us at the townquay. In the evening we had a nice meal in Georges'Taverna.
